A special note about your username

Your username will be displayed on the calendar on each day you book. Other people who book your shack should find your username easy to recognise. If your username is similar to your real name that will be helpful.

For example, if your real name is Josephine Doe your username could be jodoe12 or josie45.

Usernames can only have letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens. They should not have spaces. Usernames are case sensitive, e.g. Bill is different to bill.

These are all the same website but the URL and the site name displayed on the site are different to match the names that are used in various parts of the world. Owner - A person who owns a holiday home registered on this site or a person who registers on this site on behalf of the legal owner(s). User - Anyone who uses the site. Be advised that if you register on this site then the owner of the shack for which you are invited to become a member - or to whom you have provided your username - can view your membership details once you have accepted the invitation and/or provided your username. Also other members of the same shack as you will see your username and avatar after you make a booking. Although other members can email you through Book the Shack, they cannot see your email address when they do this. The email is sent privately by Book The Shack. These arrangements are necessary for the booking system to work. If, when accepting an invitation to become a member of a shack, you give permission by clicking in the appropriate checkbox, then other members of the same shack will be able to view your first name and last name. This option is provided to make it as easy as possible for members of the same shack to be absolutely sure who has booked the shack on any particular day. Apart from that, we will not share this information with any one, with the following exception. Information may be provided to a legal or statutory authority if requested as evidence to be submitted in a court of law or to an enforcement agency performing a lawful national security function. Information provided by users is stored in an online database and in the back up copies of the database and on mirror sites. The information is not stored anywhere else. Only authorised personnel have access to the information.
